Prayer

11/14/11- As you know, Mormonism is all over the news. San Antonio is one of the test markets for the, “I am a Mormon” campaign. Please pray for more speaking engagements so that we can inform people about the differences between Mormonism and Christianity.

11/7/11- Typically things slow down in November, but that is not the case this year. Mormonism has been in the media because of the two Mormon Presidential candidates and that keeps us very busy.

We also have a number of exciting projects and opportunities coming up in the near future. Please PRAY that we prioritize and keep up with everything during this busy time of the year. Thanks for praying and may God bless you for His glory!

Paradise And Punctuation

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs | 0 comments

Jehovah’s Witnesses will go to extremes to try and establish their doctrine. They even go so far as to ignore common rules of grammar and punctuation. One clear example of this is Luke 23: 43– “And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.'” The New World Translation reads differently. “And he said to him: ‘Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.'” Notice the subtle difference. The comma is placed after “today” instead of before it. This change...

The Cross

I vividly remember the first time I had a conversation with a Jehovah’s Witness about the Cross. I was in my second year of Bible College and had only been a Christian for a little longer than two years. I already had a heart for Jehovah’s Witnesses, but didn’t know much about them. Becky, my mother and myself were out eating at a “Happy Joe’s Pizza” in Dubuque, IA when a big group of people came into the restaurant. They were dressed up and looked as if they had just come from a formal meeting. I don’t know how I knew, but I...

Thirty More Years Of Watchtower Slavery?

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs | 0 comments

Anyone familiar with the history of the Watchtower (WT) is familiar with the many failed attempts of the WT to predict Armageddon. Recently, I was alerted to an article that appeared in the December 15, 2003 edition of the WT magazine. The major study article for this edition is titled, “Our Watchfulness Takes On Greater Urgency.” In this article the WT makes some very interesting statements. What will help us to strengthen our conviction that the end is near? Consider the conditions prevailing during the time preceding a one-of-a-kind...

Truth Transplant

The Watchtower has consistently claimed to be the only channel of communication that God is using today. The question that we wish to raise in this article is whether or not the Watchtower has been consistent in its message. If the Watchtower serves an unchanging God (Malachi 3:6- “For I am Jehovah; I have not changed…”New World Translation), then it is a fair assumption that God’s spokesman should be consistent in the message that is presented as God’s view or message. Our research has brought up too many issues to address here, so...

Where Is The Great Crowd?

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs | 0 comments

A recent Watchtower Magazine (May 1, 2002) addresses a question that we thought would be interesting to cover in this edition of BP&BC. In the section titled, Questions from Readers the magazine answers the question, “When John saw the ‘great crowd’ rendering sacred service in Jehovah’s Temple, in which part of the temple were they doing this? -Revelation 7:9-15” The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WT) teaches that there are two classes of Christians, the anointed, numbered at 144,000, and the other sheep, which is an...

Who Is The Kurios Of The New World Translation?

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs | 0 comments

In 1950 the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WT) released their translation of the Bible named, The New World Translation (NWT). This translation drew the criticism of many Greek scholars because of its incorrect and irresponsible scholarship. One of the major differences between this translation and reliable translations is the insertion of the word “Jehovah” in the New Testament (NT). The WT reasons that the writers of the N.T. used what JW’s believe to be the divine name, “Jehovah,” in their original writings. This name,...

Apostasy And Restoration

Posted by on Jul 18, 2011 in Mormons | 0 comments

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints claims that they are a restoration of Christ’s original Church and not just another denomination of Christianity. All other so-called “Christian Churches” are said to be in apostasy. On page 14 of a 1983 booklet titled, Apostasy And Restoration, the corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints states, “As Latter-day Saints, we testify that shortly after the death of the Lord’s original twelve apostles, there came seventeen hundred years of apostasy and...

The Miracle and the Mormon Miracle Pageant

This short dialogue is an example of just how cool our God is. Here is the scene. Our team member B. A. sits in a chair in the the street in front of the temple and is drawing the temple. A Mormon guy (MG) looks at the drawing and says; “I’d like to buy your drawing as a mother’s day gift for my Mom.” BA- “I’m sorry, but I’ve already promised it to someone else.” MG- “Well then, I would like to buy your next one.” BA- “I suppose I could mail it to you.” MG- “I live...

Manti- Tuesday June, 21 2011

Tonight was pretty slow until right about 8:00. I handed out some tracts and had one left over when Russ Bales, a Christian from Salt Lake City, came over and told me that he wanted a picture of me next to one of the Mormon signs that declares that there is no proselytizing on their property. (Does that apply to their missionaries too?) As we were walking over towards the sign, Russ asked a teenaged boy if he would mind taking a picture of the both of us. He took pictures on both of our cameras. Right after Easton, the Mormon boy, took the...

Beautiful Feet

Manti 2011 Week One The first week of this year’s trip was AWESOME! We had many things happen for the first time, some good and some not so good. Since I always like to end with the good news, I’ll mention the big thing that happened on Sunday morning. It rained just about all night Saturday night so we woke up to rain-drenched tents. The insides of the tent were fine, but the outsides were all wet. We’ve never had to roll up and pack wet tents before. We dragged the tents under the pavilion and did the best we could. The good news is...
