Jehovah’s Witnesses Annually Reject Christ

For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives. 1st Corinthians 11:26 – New World Translation

Every year at Passover, Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide attend a special meeting after sundown. What some Christians call “The Lord’s Supper” or “Communion”, Jehovah’s Witnesses refer to as “The Lord’s Evening Meal.” Just as churches are filled with nominal Christians on Christmas and Easter, so it is with the Witnesses on this important day. In the year 2,000, 14,872,086 Witnesses and non-Witnesses attended this meeting, yet only 8,661 partook of the elements. Why such a drastic contrast between attendees and participants?

The Watchtower Society teaches that there are two classes of Christians, the anointed, also known as the little flock, and those of the Great Crowd. The anointed, which numbers only 144,000, look forward to a heavenly destination while those of the Great Crowd expect to live forever on earth. The Watchtower says that the number of the anointed is set and Jehovah, “has been gathering it since Pentecost 33 C.E. Logically, the calling of the little flock would draw to a close when the number was nearing completion, and the evidence is that the general gathering of these specially blessed ones ended in 1935.” (Watchtower 2/15/95 P. 19) Only the anointed are thought to be in the New Covenant with Jesus Christ. Concerning this, the Watchtower states, Jesus is the “mediator” only for anointed Christians. (Watchtower 4/1/79 P.31) Since the general gathering of the anointed ended in 1935, this number continues to dwindle down to its current number (8,661) as anointed ones grow old and die. Those who join the Watchtower today do not have a heavenly hope and are not part of the New Covenant between Jesus and the anointed. The Watchtower teaches that those who are not part of the New Covenant are not to partake of the emblems during the Evening Meal. As the numbers reveal, this directive is zealously obeyed. We have attended this special meeting on a number of occasions and have yet to witness anyone ever taking the emblems. The elders of the congregation distribute the bread and wine and make sure that everyone present has an opportunity to reject the New Covenant.

Most Jehovah’s Witnesses do not realize what this means or the grave consequences for this choice. Every year when the emblems pass by, Jehovah’s Witnesses are rejecting Jesus Christ as their mediator and only hope for salvation. Most Witnesses will acknowledge that they are not in the New Covenant, but do not realize that Jesus is not their mediator. We remember speaking with a Jehovah’s Witness couple at the San Antonio airport and informing them of this fact. They didn’t believe that the Watchtower teaches this and promised to look it up on their WT CD-ROM when they got home. Imagine their surprise when they read it for themselves. It is our prayer that when Jehovah’s Witnesses realize that the Watchtower attempts to keep them from coming to Christ, they will reject the shackles of the organization and will accept Jesus as their personal Savior.
