Researching the term “Name” in the book of Acts A Study For Jehovah’s Witnesses

Posted by on May 30, 2013 in JWs | 0 comments

The following is a list I (Keith) put together in preparation for a study I had with a Jehovah’s Witness elder. We were studying through the Watchtower publication, “WHAT DOES THE BIBLE Really TEACH?” One of the points that this book makes early in chapter one is the idea that God has a personal name and that if we don’t use that name, then we cannot really know him. I put this list together to help my friend look at things from a different perspective. If you would like to read a report of our conversation, you can read our 5/30/13...

Witnessing Tips – “Student Role” Teaching

Posted by on Oct 28, 2011 in JWs, Top 5 | 0 comments

Preaching the gospel to Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons presents problems to the Christian that are often times more difficult than normal witnessing situations.  Mormon missionaries and Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught not to listen to Christians who are obviously trying to teach them.  Since these cultists believe they already have the truth, they think that there is nothing to gain by listening to Christians.  There is a way to reach out to Jehovah’s Witness and Mormons, but it is in a way opposite to conventional wisdom. As...

Investigating Other Religions

Investigating Other Religions

I (Keith) once had an interesting conversation with two Jehovah’s Witness ladies. While at the airport, one of them offered me a Watchtower magazine. I quickly flipped through it and came across an article titled, “Should you investigate other religions?” (Watchtower 10/15/00 p. 8-9) I asked if I should, and the ladies mentioned that the Bereans in Acts 17:11 were noble minded because they checked the scriptures to see if what the Apostle Paul was teaching them was true. They encouraged me to do the same thing. I asked if it was just...

Evil Cats And Birthdays

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs, Top 5 | 0 comments

Occasionally during our ministry we come across humorous situations and articles. The following is an example of one of those. This essay, written by an ex-Jehovah’s Witness points out how the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society can twist anything good into something evil. The 1st piece below from “Insight on the Scriptures” is official Watchtower doctrine and is binding upon all Jehovah’s Witnesses. Take notice of some of the phrases, terminology, and ridiculous argumentation and then read Dave’s article. Dave uses the same...

Growing Up In And Out Of The Jehovah’s Witness Cult

Do you remember growing up? Your first days at school, making friends, hanging out at the neighbor’s house, going to the zoo, eating cotton candy at carnivals, having sleep-overs, participating in all kinds of group activities: sports, scouts, weekend hobbies, choir, band … the list goes on. Remember the times with your family? Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas morning, Easter egg hunts, valentine’s cards, birthday parties, and fourth of July parades. You’ve probably got a myriad of precious memories of those sweet and innocent days....

If Jesus Isn’t Your Mediator, Then Who Is?

If Jesus Isn’t Your Mediator, Then Who Is?

As a Jehovah’s Witness, you may find the title of this article offensive, inaccurate and based on a false assumption, but contrary to popular belief, Jesus isn’t the mediator for all of mankind… at least that’s what the Watchtower teaches. In order to clear up this view, lets join Evidence Ministries in a fictitious interview with Watchtower spokesman, J.W. Mann. All of the lines from J.W. Mann are direct quotes from Watchtower literature followed by the reference for the quote. EM– Mr. Mann, thank-you for taking time out of your...

Jehovah’s Witnesses Annually Reject Christ

Jehovah’s Witnesses Annually Reject Christ

For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives. 1st Corinthians 11:26 – New World Translation Every year at Passover, Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide attend a special meeting after sundown. What some Christians call “The Lord’s Supper” or “Communion”, Jehovah’s Witnesses refer to as “The Lord’s Evening Meal.” Just as churches are filled with nominal Christians on Christmas and Easter, so it is with the Witnesses on this important day. In the year 2,000,...

Paradise And Punctuation

Paradise And Punctuation

Jehovah’s Witnesses will go to extremes to try and establish their doctrine. They even go so far as to ignore common rules of grammar and punctuation. One clear example of this is Luke 23: 43– “And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.'” The New World Translation reads differently. “And he said to him: ‘Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.'” Notice the subtle difference. The comma is placed after “today” instead of before it. This change...

The Cross

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs | 0 comments

I vividly remember the first time I had a conversation with a Jehovah’s Witness about the Cross. I was in my second year of Bible College and had only been a Christian for a little longer than two years. I already had a heart for Jehovah’s Witnesses, but didn’t know much about them. Becky, my mother and myself were out eating at a “Happy Joe’s Pizza” in Dubuque, IA when a big group of people came into the restaurant. They were dressed up and looked as if they had just come from a formal meeting. I don’t know how I knew, but I...

Thirty More Years Of Watchtower Slavery?

Posted by on Jul 19, 2011 in JWs | 0 comments

Anyone familiar with the history of the Watchtower (WT) is familiar with the many failed attempts of the WT to predict Armageddon. Recently, I was alerted to an article that appeared in the December 15, 2003 edition of the WT magazine. The major study article for this edition is titled, “Our Watchfulness Takes On Greater Urgency.” In this article the WT makes some very interesting statements. What will help us to strengthen our conviction that the end is near? Consider the conditions prevailing during the time preceding a one-of-a-kind...
